IMT Multimedia Networks

IMT networks are designed for applications where constant bit rates, constant bandwidth and Quality of Service are required. There are two network systems available; OMNInet and SmartBuss. OMNInet networks operate on single mode fiber optics to 15 kilometers or on multi mode fiber optics to 2 kilometers. SmartBuss networks operates on CAT5 infrastructure with 100 meter hops for local tributaries or via single mode fiber optics to 2 kilometers for backbones with increased capacity over wider areas.

All IMT networks are synchronous and are engineered with an asynchronous backhaul for redundancy as a standard feature. They can be configured in dual-counter rotating ring topologies for a second level of redundancy in mission critical applications. These networks are EN60849 compliant.

There are a variety of media services modules that provide the input-output to the networks and they are configured in any IMT network hubs including the 3RU 14 position Hub, the 1RU 4 position Hub and (for SmartBuss networks only) the .5RU 8 channel audio AVIO Edge Server.

All networks operate as a virtual matrix with any input stream routable to any or all outputs. As private networks there are no IP based routers or switches required which eliminates many of the configuration hassles associated with operating on Ethernet IP enterprise networks including firewall configurations, IP port mapping, virus program conflicts or changes in bandwidth provisioning with high demand streaming applications.

The PathMaster software application is supplied with every system and it is used to configure the network parameters including input and output assignments, monitoring of network communications or configuration of audio digital signal processors.
